I’ve been developing OPSYN – Out of Place Synthesizer-, under the post master’s fellow program at Berklee College of Music. The program will end this month, June 2019. I want to make a summary of OPSYN that I have done so far. After finishing the program, I will continue developing OPSYN and will share the process and thoughts through this blog. Eventually, I will distribute this application on the platform such as steam or Oculus store for other artists. For other developers, who is interested in the project, I will keep the source code open under the GPL3.0 license, which you can copy, distribute and modify the software but if you want to distribute commercially, you must provide the source code.

Updates
• Added new musical interfaces: Keyboard & XY Faders
• XY fader controls the volume faders of aux channel in Ableton
• Now you can change the color of pad or keyboard controlled by pitch and velocity from Ableton. Light will be triggered when it received MIDI from Ableton.
• Added Euclidean rhythm function to the step sequencer.
• You can change scene and load different instruments or effects
Work in Progress (Known Issues)
• Fix some bugs in sequencer: it doesn’t store the rhythm and velocity pattern correctly when moved or controlled by hand directly
• Fix some communication issues in Fader: sometimes faders not work correctly
Future implementation ideas and goals
• Add more instruments for the sequencer (right now, you can program kick and snare only)
• Research about the possibility of integration in AR(Augmented Reality) platform
• Distribute in more accessible platform such as steam or oculus store
